Scottish Teenager Tries a Walkman

Filed under: Surprises, Current Affairs — Pamela @ 9:14 am

The BBC outfitted a 13-year-old Scottish boy with a Walkman for a week — an antique — and had him write his observations on portable music technology. The best paragraph (for old folks):

It took me three days to figure out that there was another side to the tape. That was not the only naive mistake that I made; I mistook the metal/normal switch on the Walkman for a genre-specific equaliser, but later I discovered that it was in fact used to switch between two different types of cassette.

    That's hilarious.

I showed my 10 year old daughter an old rotary phone, and she just stuck her finger into the holes. She has no idea how to "dial" a telephone. Thank goodness for iPods and MSN chat, or she'd lose the use of her fingers entirely.
  • Excellent! Oh, you forgot texting. Soon she'll be all over it. Another good one on media I heard recently... Dad tells son he sounds like a broken record. Son asks, "What's a broken record?"
